o christmas tree

This year, the Athenians decided to participate en masse in the decoration of their city for the holiday season. The new tree, for one, certainly looked more alternative than the tree of Christmas past - at least it was photographed and looked at a lot more than its predecessor.

So was the Christmas decoration, festive to be sure, albeit alluding - by a twist of absurdity - to what once was the county of Dalmatia (no, seriously, I'm not kidding!)

(and now a word from our sponsor:)

(A distressed mayor announced that order would be restored by the erection of a new tree, so that every Athenian would exercise their right to the festive twinkle of Christmas lights; as Athens was resuming its peaceful activities it remained unclear whether the new tree would be guarded 24/7 to prevent a renewed act of desecration). In the meantime, window shopping was seen under a thoroughly different light as well:

Pretty village, pretty flame, or was it pretty tree?
In any case it looked much more interesting set ablaze!
